🎤 Meghan Trainor lost weight. The internet isn’t happy. After years of speaking openly about body confidence and self-acceptance, she has found herself facing criticism from people who feel she has somehow betrayed the body positivity movement. As someone who spent years struggling with body image, this story hit a nerve. Why can’t a woman support body positivity and love her own body - and still decide she wants to lose weight in the future, whether it be a personal choice or health focused? Why do we expect women to justify every change they make to their bodies? Healing my relationship with my body didn’t come from thinking my body was suddenly perfect every day. It came from realising that my worth wasn’t tied to my weight or my appearence in the first place and understanding that I could love my body, enjoy my life now and still have goals at the same time. ✨ How I rebuilt my confidence and style as a petite woman Hi, I’m Stephanie — founder of Friday Petite 👋 A few years ago, my confidence was at an all-time low. Shopping felt frustrating, exhausting and often upsetting. Clothes were too long. Dresses overwhelmed my frame. Curves and shortness weren’t compatible. Styles that looked amazing on other people just didn’t work on me. For years, I thought the problem was me. My height. My shape. My body. I thought if I could just lose weight, look taller or somehow change myself, shopping would finally become easier. But after years of searching, scrolling and trying things on, I realised something important… I was never the problem. The problem was that so much of the fashion industry simply wasn’t designed with petite women in mind - and I knew we deserved better. That realisation changed everything. I stopped trying to force myself into clothes that weren’t made for me. I discovered brands that actually worked and left behind the ones that didn’t. I found my own style. And slowly, I rebuilt my confidence - and I’ve never felt more like myself than I do now. And during that healing I created Friday Petite. Not just to share clothes, but to help other petite women feel seen, confident and excited about fashion again. ✨ Happy Friday everyone! One of my favourite things about running Friday Petite is discovering brands, collections and events that I think you’ll genuinely love and sharing them with you. Recently I attended the Never Fully Dressed launch at John Lewis and I left completely understanding why so many women are falling in love with this brand. Yes, the clothes are beautiful. But what really stood out was the atmosphere. There was colour, confidence, music, laughter and a genuine sense that fashion should be fun. In an industry that can sometimes feel intimidating or exclusive, that feels incredibly refreshing.
