Inside The Never Fully Dressed X John Lewis Launch Event
Inside The Never Fully Dressed x John Lewis Launch Event
I recently attended the Never Fully Dressed launch event at John Lewis on Oxford Street, celebrating the brand officially launching in John Lewis stores and online — and I was genuinely excited about this one - I even went with an injured back - that’s how much I didn’t want to miss out on this one.
Because I’ve loved Never Fully Dressed for a very long time. And honestly? The event reminded me of exactly why.
You can feel throughout every part of this brand that the founder truly loves clothes. More importantly, though, you can tell she loves women and wants women to feel incredible wearing them. That feeling runs through everything Never Fully Dressed does.
The clothes are beautiful, joyful, expressive and stylish, but they also feel very wearable at the same time. The pieces have personality. They feel exciting to put on. And the quality always stands out to me too.
Every time I order something from Never Fully Dressed, it almost feels like someone has created something especially for me. There’s thoughtfulness in the styling, the colours, the prints and the silhouettes that makes getting dressed feel fun again. And honestly, that’s a huge part of why I started Friday Petite in the first place.
Because for so much of my life, fashion didn’t feel fun at all. Like many petite women, my relationship with clothing often felt frustrating, emotional and at times genuinely quite toxic. I struggled constantly to find clothes that fit my proportions properly and fashion often felt more focused on telling women what they should look like rather than helping them express themselves. Never Fully Dressed feels like the opposite of that.
The brand doesn’t feel interested in shame or perfection or unrealistic standards. It simply feels focused on creating beautiful clothes that help women feel joyful, confident and like themselves. And weirdly enough… the atmosphere at the event reflected that perfectly too.
I arrived at John Lewis Oxford Street not really knowing what to expect. If you’ve never been to the Oxford Street store before, it is enormous. It basically takes over an entire block and genuinely takes a good 10 minutes to walk all the way around the outside building and a whole lot longer on the inside. I actually got slightly lost trying to find the event space.
But what stood out was that instead of feeling awkward or intimidating — which fashion events absolutely can sometimes feel — I ended up meeting a lovely group of women who were also trying to find it. We all started chatting and navigating the store together and they immediately welcomed me to stick with them.
And honestly? That ended up becoming one of the biggest takeaways from the evening. Everybody was so warm. So friendly. So open.
A Sneak-peek at the NFD X John Lewis Launch Party.
There was none of that intimidating fashion energy people sometimes expect from launches and industry events. The atmosphere felt genuinely inclusive and joyful — which, when you think about it, is exactly what Never Fully Dressed has always represented as a brand.
It felt less like a traditional fashion launch and more like a room full of women who simply love fashion and love how clothing can make people feel.
That really stayed with me. Because ultimately, I think fashion is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to help us express ourselves. It’s supposed to make ordinary days feel a bit more exciting. It’s supposed to allow personality and creativity and confidence to come through. And Never Fully Dressed understands that better than most brands.
So it’s incredibly exciting to see the brand continuing to grow and now becoming available through John Lewis too, giving even more people the opportunity to discover it.
The style itself won’t necessarily be for everyone — and honestly, I think that’s part of why the brand works so well. It has a clear identity. The prints are bold. The styling is playful. The pieces feel distinctive. But goodness, it’s fun.
And in a fashion landscape that can sometimes feel very beige, very trend-led and very serious, I think there’s something really refreshing about a brand that still prioritises joy.
So if you haven’t explored Never Fully Dressed in a while, or if you’ve never looked at the brand before, this feels like the perfect moment to do it.
Because fashion should feel good. And Never Fully Dressed really does.
